Cadence® Ethernet IP solutions include MAC, converters, and PCS IP. Our Ethernet controller designs are highly configurable and include products ranging from 10/100M to 100G. The controller area is optimized to provide you with the best power and performance for each application.

Cadence Ethernet PCS and connectivity IP let you interface Cadence and third-party MAC IP to standard interfaces. Ethernet MAC products also offer support for energy-efficient Ethernet, high-performance audio-video bridging, offload capabilities, and cost-sensitive solutions with single-port SRAMs and high-latency DRAMs. You can speed development using our software drivers with reference integration code for Linux.

Cadence® Ethernet Controller IP addresses a broad range of applications from automotive, consumer, and industrial to high-end servers and networking appliances.

Our Ethernet controller IP family supports the latest Ethernet specifications and provides unmatched flexibility so you can more easily configure and customize a controller to your specific needs. We provide IP solutions from 10/100M to 100G.

Cadence Ethernet controllers offer more than 100 configurable features and 1,500 input parameters so every design can be optimized to its target application while achieving the best area and performance. Cadence controllers are also integrated with a large number of PHYs.

Our 40G, 10G, and 1G controller contains an optional high performance and highly featured DMA engine that has been optimized and designed to make optimum use of the pipelining capabilities of the AXI system fabric, maintaining the highest line rates even in the presence of extremely high system latencies. The DMA can issue a high number of outstanding AXI requests without having to wait for potentially slow responses, something that becomes increasingly important as the line rates increase. Our DMA contains many other features to optimize performance, reduce latency, and offload software tasks. It also helps provide AVB support, with up to 16 prioritized queues of traffic (including 802.1Qav traffic shaping).

Ethernet PCS and Connectivity Products Facilitates integration of MAC IP to a broad range of PHY and SERDES IP

Cadence® Ethernet PCS and connectivity IP provide you with a wide range of connectivity IP that can be used to interface Cadence and third-party MAC IP to standard interfaces. Our Ethernet PCS solutions ease integration of MAC IP with a broad range of PHY and SerDes IP. Our connectivity IP solutions include converters (10G to 1G) and Backplane Ethernet Auto-Negotiation (BEAN).

Ethernet Multiport Subsystem Fully integrated multi-port 40/10/1G MAC, PCS subsystem solution

Cadence® Ethernet Multiport Subsystem IP solves a critical integration problem for high-end systems by providing a verified, integrated system with versatile functionality that accelerates your time to market.

The Cadence Multiport Ethernet IP Subsystem connects to four external SerDes lanes and can support one port of 40GBASE-KR4, up to four ports of 10GBASE-KR, up to two ports of 10GBASE-KX4, and up to four ports of 1000BASE-KX. Several combinations of these are possible, with each port capable of individual speed-mode negotiation with the link partner. 

To help reduce system integration efforts further, all components within the Cadence Multiport Ethernet IP Subsystem are conveniently controlled and configured using a single host-side AMBA® APB™ slave port and a defined cluster memory map. The subsystem is supplied with a low-latency FIFO interface for data transfers to and from the host. This interface has been designed with system integration in mind, operating at a fully asynchronous host clock frequency that can be unrelated to the underlying physical low-level clocks.

10G-KR PHY SerDes Solutions: Multiprotocol PHY supporting enterprise applications

Cadence's 10G-KR IP targets performance-driven applications such as 10G/40G and 100G Ethernet, PCIe backplanes, and XAUI enterprise and network devices. Compliant with IEEE 802.3 10GBase-KR requirements, PCI Express 3.0, 2.0, and 1.1, and XAUI, the Cadence® 10G-KR Multi-Protocol PHY IP is highly configurable to allow designers to select a single PHY to address multiple applications.

The continued growth of bandwidth-intensive applications such as video and cloud-based data storage presents a challenge to designers of enterprise and network equipment to increase performance while lowering power. The Cadence 10G-KR PHY IP is an important component in conquering this challenge by offering the combined benefit of low power, high performance, and versatility in a single analog IP package. Our 10G-KR PHY IP, built upon the company’s extensive SerDes experience, lowers the design risk and helps designers get to production faster with their high-speed SoCs.
